A Sophisticated Notion

Patricia of Bolero is not only an amazingly talented designer, but she’s also a close personal friend of mine. She represents the best of what small business has to offer: quality products, excellent customer service, constant innovation, and a special personal touch in all she does. Last year, we were privileged enough to have her visit the shop for a pop-up event. Recently, she came out with a new Ezy tunic design I want to review.

For those just tuning in, I recommend reading through my previous Bolero reviews, but the TL;DR version is that Patricia makes bust-friendly clothing in high quality fabrics which are not mass produced, never wrinkle, and travel well. Her garments are made in the USA, last forever, can often be customized, and flatter a range of body types. At this point, I think half of my closet is just Bolero. When she sent me pictures of her latest tunic design, I knew I wanted one for myself, especially since we’re finally in cooler weather.

Right now, I am a US 14, and the size Large fits perfectly. Because her garments already take into account a bustier figure, you don’t need to size up for a comfortable fit. Simply purchase the size which best represents your figure, not your chest. The Ezy tunic sports a square neckline to flatter a fuller bust and a soft empire waist. Usually, I am reticent about an empire waist design because the bottom seam often bisects my UK 34H boobs in an unflattering way. Furthermore, since the narrowest part of my torso is my natural waist, an empire top or dress obscures it and makes me look larger. However, I knew I could trust Patricia, who is verging on my personal stylist at this point, to produce fantastic results.

The soft pleating of the fabric in the front is balanced by a slightly more fitted side, so the Ezy tunic not only conceals my tummy but still highlights my narrow waist, even without belting. I love the length on me too because it is perfect for wearing with pencil skirts, shorts, jeans, or slim pants. A longer version would be nice too. Moreover, the palm frond print and color scheme is right up my alley. We all know I have a black and white obsession, and the inclusion of my favorite color (green!) adds the perfect pop.

While the exterior is obviously gorgeous, the interior also boasts unique features include a double lined upper back and front. The added layer on the back creates a smooth silhouette while the front lining not only ensures total opacity but also conceals seams or texture on your bra. For someone like me who lives in seamed cups and adores unique details, this thoughtful finishing touch means I never have to worry about what bra I am wearing under the Ezy tunic.

Overall, this is another excellent entry for Bolero, and you can purchase your own here.
