A Sophisticated Notion

Hello Ladies,

After reading reviews about the new Marcie from Cleo by Panache on Invest in your Chest, Sweet Nothings, and Undressed to Impress, I had a flare up of my lingerie lust (a chronic condition, I’m afraid) and snagged one for myself.

Sizing & Fit:ย  Since my other well-fitting Panache bras are in size 30HH, I ordered this size in the Marcie.ย  However, I was immediately able to hook the bra on the tightest set of hooks, and the wings of the bra had considerable stretch ability.ย  As a result, I was concerned a 30 band would wear out too quickly to justify the expensive of the bra.ย  Additionally, the fit of the cup was not perfect.ย  The top row of embroidery along the cup has a tendency of gaping open and not tightly contouring to the top of my breast, especially if I moved.ย  Bras I Hate & Love had a similar problem to what I experienced, but I doubt a 30H would have fit better because I filled the rest of the cup perfectly.ย  In fact, I almost feel like I have tissue being smashed in the middle of the cup because even the side profile pictures reveal a borderline flat silhouette in the middle and lower portion of the cup.ย  My intuition is the fabric is too inflexible to adjust to differences in bust shape a la the stretch lace of the Andorra or Jasmine.ย  Aside from the minor cup issue, the wide set straps felt uncomfortable.ย  I have pretty broad shoulders, but I felt like this was too broad even for me.ย  The edges of the cup were already starting to dig into my side, and I knew that after a few hours, I would be ready to throw the bra in the trash.ย  Nevertheless, I did approve of how the cups were deeper toward the center gore as I often have trouble with bras being too shallow for my closer set breasts.ย  Even though the cup is a little deeper, the underwire extended too far on my sides as well.ย  Perhaps sizing down to the 28J would have improved this issue, but I am not sure I would want a bra that does not contour well to the top of my breasts.

Materials & Deign:ย  I have a confession:ย  I have never owned a red bra.ย  Even though I have wanted one for quite some time, I never found one I loved in my size.ย  Consequently, when I saw the Marcie, I practically squealed with delight.ย  The color is a gorgeous blue-based red that is saturated and deep, making it perfect for most skin tones.ย  The polka dot embroidery on the bottom cup and the design on the top complemented the color, and from looking at the Marcie on the models as well as my fellow bloggers, I really liked the rounder cup shape and balcony style.ย  Fully-adjustable straps are always an advantage, and the fabrics used felt lovely against my skin.ย  The Marcie also has two hook-and-eye closures in the back which does not suit me as I prefer at least three hooks, but I know many fuller-busted ladies do not feel the same way.

Overall Grade:ย  Abstaining!ย  I have never abstained from giving an overall grade before, I feel the fit was so off for me that I can’t honestly assess the style.ย  I feel like this bra would work better for a woman who has a broader ribcage and a little more fullness on the top part of her breasts than me.
