I’m back this month and really excited to review some new goodies that I picked up over the holidays. This review is even more appropriate as Erica is the smart lady who turned me onto Tia Lyn, which is now one of my favorite loungewear brands.

Since I work from home, my standards of “getting dressed” these days are pretty lax. Lots of days, I’ll just throw on some comfy loungewear instead of clothes if I’m not planning to go anywhere. Consequently, my loungewear goes through a lot. I have two dogs, I’m klutz who drinks lots of caffeinated beverages and I definitely don’t treat my loungewear very delicately. I’ve tried lots of high end loungewear sets that use modal in the past, but haven’t been really impressed. Modal fabric feels great, but doesn’t always hold up to washing or long term wear. I’m really pleased to report that this set has held up spectacularly over the past month or so that I’ve had it, which makes this line worth the investment for me based on longevity alone.

Erica is carrying this in the store in silver currently, but since I’m a color hog I asked her to special order the Mint colorway for me. In the interest of realism, I’ve shot these images without a bra so you can see the actual level of built in support. I am someone who can’t sleep with underwires, so I’m really okay with this most of the time. This chemise is secure enough to sleep in and not fall out of, but it also provides a reasonable amount of support if I’m just lounging around. Since I assume most of you have jobs where you actually have to leave your house, I foresee this piece being sleepwear or loungewear for most. I’m current a 36H in most UK brands, so this level of support is really pretty impressive for something that is essentially a built in shelf bra. Of course, if you just can’t live without underwired support, you can always layer it over a bra.

The embroidered details on this piece are stunning, but I particularly like how the embroidery that covers the shelf bra on the bust section is reused with a more sheer texture on the sides of the chemise. It’s an impressive level of detail for the price point and feels really luxurious.

The other Tia Lyn piece I own has a bra style clasp in back, but this one doesn’t. I find that it honestly doesn’t make much difference. These pieces aren’t designed to give a super precise fit in terms of cup size and stretch with wear anyway. The band will inevitably get looser with long term wear and then come back to it’s original size when you wash the chemise. If you are between sizes, this does mean that you might want to size down rather than up.

I tried both the matching hipster and the thong with this set, because I’ve found that I wear my Tia Lyn pieces often enough that I like having two matching sets of undies to go with them. Surprisingly, I didn’t feel that the hipster and the thong were terribly different in terms of comfort and coverage – and this is coming from someone who hates thongs. I like having two different matching pairs of undies enough that I’m contemplating ordering two with any future sets as long as I can afford it. Tia Lyn is the rare brand where matching panties are not an afterthought and are designed as well as the items they accompany. I’ve been mixing and matching these panties in my regular lingerie routine because they are just that comfortable, so to me they are worth the investment.

I’m incredibly pleased with both the fit and feel of this set. I’ve tried modal sets that are at least twice as expensive that have pilled after one wash, so I’m thrilled at how this has held up. It’s survived dog fur, coffee, holiday breakfasts and even a washing machine soap scum accident that made me afraid for it’s future. As you can see, it’s still in great shape.
